Vista - Canoscan n1240u driver for Vista 64?

Hi all,

I know that the canoscan scanners are notorious for lack of vista 64 drivers - anybody know of a generic driver that might work with this scanner on that OS?

Hi Chris,

If your scanner model has a x64 XP driver, you might try it in compatibility mode, (driver installer program), to see if it will work with x64 Vista. I had to do that for my webcam and it worked fine.

No joy, there are no 64 vista drivers and the xp one does not specify whether it is 64 or 32. I tried it anyway but it was having none of it, even in compatibility mode. Any other thoughts appreciated.

Well Chris,

I did some digging to for you. All I could find where the same x32 XP drivers. It does not seem like Canon made any x64 drivers for this model of it's scanner. May need to get a new scanner or go back to x32 Vista for now.
