Canon mp180 driver & Slow boot

I'm new to vista 64 bit. I have core 2 duo E6420 2 gig ram, vista 64bit. I found the 64 bit driver for my Canon MP180 then dloaded and installed it. rebooted then found that it appears to stick at the bios splash screen for good while, about a full minute longer than usual before eventually loading Vista.

I uninstalled the driver rebooted and the booting up time was back to normal... a few seconds. Anyone know what might cause this 64 bit driver to sl;ow the boot times down.

Thanks

Re: Canon mp180 driver & Slow boot

Ok no response so I'll asnwer the question cos I discovered what was slowing down the bootup times, I don't know if this will be any use to anyone and if it's been posted before...sorry.

Turned out it was the printer being left switched on, it appears that the computer was checking usb devices, Device # 01 being the printer. If I made sure printers power button is switched off before powering up the computer then it boots really fast again. I'm a happy chappy again.

Lazarus

Glad you finaly made it in, welcome to the forums m8.

Well your problem has one good point, by switching your printer off your reducing your carbon footprint...maybe this is some M$ conspiricy to save energy lol
