Help - Adaptec AHA - 3940 UW x64 Drivers needed

I have an AHA - 3940UW SCSI adapter and Adaptec only provides the 32bit version of the drivers.

Does anyone knows where can I find the 64bit version?

What does the control panel 32bit do??

can I use it to install a 32bit driver?

And vista will communicate whith my SCSI device at 32bit?

Please Help

Welcome to the forum.

I believe you will not find any 64 bit drivers for that model number. Did Vista assign a generic driver to it?

The 32 bit Control Panel is for 32 bit programs that may put a Control Panel item in it. The main Control Panel is 64 bit.

A 32 bit driver will not work in the 64 bit Vista.

If x64 Vista did not assign a generic driver that worked, then you might consider either getting a new SCSI adapter that does support x64 Vista, go back to the x32 Vista until a x64 driver comes out (if one does), or do without it.

It seems the Adaptec is not quick on supporting the x64 Vista.

If x64 Vista does not assign one for it automatically, then it will probably be just a shot in the dark for you to find one that will work. You can give it a try and see. Just make sure it is as close to you model as you can get, maybe a newer model that is the same brand. If it does not work, be sure to uninstall the driver in Device Manager.

It's pretty much pot luck.
