| Member | USBHub.sys BSOD Hey all, I'm having an ongoing problem with the generic usb driver for Vista that causes a bsod on shutdown/restart (usbhub.sys to be exact). The strange thing is that it only happens whenever a usb keyboard is plugged in. If I unplug it before shutdown everything is fine! Anyone having similar problems or a solution? Many thanks |

| Member | Re: USBHub.sys BSOD Yes I have tried that, even a fresh re-install of vista did not solve the problem. It's quite puzzling as the keyboard or drivers do not give me any issues while the system is running and it even shuts down fine whilst using a PS2 keyboard. The keyboard (Microsoft Razr Reclusa) came with its own set of drivers but vista seems to be reverting to using the generic usb hub driver. I also have a pci usb hub installed so I'm starting to wonder whether this is causing a conflict with the keyboard? |

| Enthusiast | Re: USBHub.sys BSOD Have you tried plugging it into one of the MOBO USB slots, instead of the PCI hub? There may be a couple other little things, based on hardware. I'm gonna do some quick looking and let you know. By the by, do you have an AMD chip? |

| Enthusiast | Re: USBHub.sys BSOD Okay, the MS site says that there is no currently available software for the Reclusa on Vista (though it also says it will be available in Spring 07, which is somewhat past). I did a bit of searching and found a driver (version 1.02) available for download with reasonable ease (just a google search away). I'm not sure, but there's a chance it could be related to USB power settings. I don't know how much power that keyboard draws, but there are some USB slots that are powered and some that aren't. You'll have to make sure you're using the right one, since there's a small chance that would be an issue. I asked the AMD question, since they've got an update if you have an LCD display on your keyboard. Yours doesn't, so that shouldn't be a concern. |

| Member | Re: USBHub.sys BSOD FightingScallion, I'm using an Intel E6600 and have tried the keyboard in both the mobo usb and pci hub usb slots. I've just removed the usb hub altogether to see if it was indeed causing the bsod, but still the same result. The latest reclusa drivers do not solve the issue either. When I first built the system I used a logitech bluetooth keyboard that gave me exactly the same bsod, so I'm guessing that Vista is more to balme than the keyboard manufacturer drivers. I really appreciate your help as I'm running out of options, short of reverting to an old PS2 keyboard! Many thanks |

| Enthusiast | Re: USBHub.sys BSOD Have you tried a scannow? Open a command window as an administrator. Then type sfc /scannow. There's a chance that'll help. Other than that, you could just try the standard stuff in Device Manager (updating drivers, checking for new PnP devices, and the like). Also, check BIOS to ensure that it'll support Legacy USB. Could be some funny issues in there, though without having your BIOS to look at, I can only guess on things to suggest. |

| Member | Re: USBHub.sys BSOD I've just tried scannow and it didnt find any system file errors. My bios does support legacy usb so I'll try playing around with the drivers in device manager. One worrying thing is that I've just built a new system using vista x64 home premium with a slightly different mobo and it doesnt give me any bsods so I'm starting to think its a more serious problem with the model of mobo im using (xfx 680i lt sli). I retrieved the stop error code from the bsod if that will help at all. 0x7e, which seems to be quite generic from google searches. Thanks again |

| Enthusiast | Re: USBHub.sys BSOD Yeah, the MOBO is probably related, knowing that. Try looking at BIOS and driver updates for the MOBO. If you're all updated, or it doesn't work, maybe roll back. |
