Belkin Wireless Adapter

Hi! Just wondering if you guys can help me out...
I just got a new pc with Vista Home Premium x64. Here are the specs
Athlon 64 X2 6000+
4GB RAM
512MB GeForce 8600GTS

It works fine except when I have tried to install my Belkin USB wireless adapter. I went to Belkins site and it told me to download the Ralink drivers, which I did. Nothing. Vista tells me that the device is working properly, but the light on the adapter is not lighting up, and Windows does not pick up any networks at all. I tried the PC with a second, identical adapter to see if it was the device causing the problem, but I have gotten the same response, which lead me to think it was an issue with Vista.

If anyone could provide me with some advice I would be very grateful.

I'm in the same boat m8, I spent a few hours trying different drivers ralink etc but nothing worked, the ralink drivers installed fine for the device but I just couldn't detect any networks.

I will have another look about tonight and see what I can find, if you do find a solution could you please post back here and let me know.

Have you tried to do a Windows update. I had the same problem with a Linksys wireless adapter that didn't offer x64 vista drivers. Microsoft update updated to another manufacturer driver that worked fine for me.

Just a thought.

Not quite sure what I did, but I got it working!!
I went into add new hardware, and added a new device as a Ralink wireless USB adapter, and suddenly it all kicked in and worked!

Those congratulations were a little premature I'm afraid..
After I posted that, the connection just disconnected, and the device stopped working again...
System restore time..

What model # of your Belkin USB wireless adapter are you using? I would also suggest doing a Windows update if you haven't already done so.

There is a known problem with some kinds of USB devices on a 4GB Vista x64. Microsoft has posted a HotFix KB933433 that specifically addresses USB mics, but it made my MS webcam work too.

Using model B, so Version 3.
But it's all good now
I deleted all the Belkin drivers from the system,
using the "Uninstall" from Device Manager,
once the device had the yellow exclaimation mark by it I right clicked it,
properties,
Update Driver,
and went to Gigabyte Technology Corp
and selected the Gigabyte GN-WB01GS USB WLAN Card
Ignore the warning about it being the incorrect driver
and let it install as that

Not had one problem (touch wood) since, and that was about 24 hours ago now.
