| | Recommended 802.11g USB adapter for Vista x64 Hi, I have Vista Ultimate x64 installed on a dual core Pentium D 820, 3Gb ram machine. I also have a "bluenext" USB 2.0 wifi adapter, which is actually based on the ZD1211B chipset, recently renamed the Atheros AR5007UG. Running WPA-PSK Unfortunately I'm finding the following issues - all drivers since 2.0.0.125 result in very slow performance (~ 30 kbps) - virtually every day the adapter stops working. Usually the LED is off & no error is logged, but device needs to be replugged to reactivate. Occasionally a reboot is needed. I'm now on my "last chance" driver at http://download.eusso.com:8080/Download_Driver.htm Note that other connected machines are working fine. I *suspect* the wireless adapter. Could be hardware, but more likely a driver issue. I'm therefore inclined to avoid the AR5007ug based adapters, and possibly all the atheros devices. GIven this can anyone recommend a wireless card that has - good sensitivity (only through a floor+wall, so just don't want a real bad one) - reliability - cheap(ish) - well supported/regularly updated drivers under Vista x64 Thanks! Nigel. |

| Vista Business 64-bit | Re: Recommended 802.11g USB adapter for Vista x64 raj, Have tried that and it does not work. I used to have this same problem on my older xp pro computer as well. Never managed to sort it on that either, tho this problem occured a lot less frequently than it does on my new vista computer. Farhad |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Recommended 802.11g USB adapter for Vista x64 I have Vista Ultimate x64 installed on a dual core Pentium D 820, 3Gb ram machine. I'm having similar problem as you encounter on Dlink DWA-110. Although Dlink DWA-110 is come with x64 driver but the USB adaptor stops working very frequently, it can't get connect to my wifi router (Dlink too!). Any experience? Or any new recommendation on other brand adaptor? |

| 32bit Vista Basic Home | Re: Recommended 802.11g USB adapter for Vista x64 I'm having the same problem with Netgear. They said it's a Vista problem. Why in the world would Vista limit it? No wonder people don't like Vista. As soon as the new Windows comes out I'm getting rid of this crap Vista. Vista driver limitation: XR (Extended Range) not support. Can’t get hidden AP’s channel, a/b/g mode and security mode. When connect to Ad-hoc mode, can not list infrastructure list. Can’t capture CTS/RTS packet. Fragment setting doesn’t work properly. Link speed always report 54Mbps on 11g connection and 11mbps on 11b. Ad-hoc mode, the connection is very poor except WPA2-PSK mode. |
