4965AGN - bad driver for Vista x64?

I got a shiny new inspiron 1420 with vista home basic x86, and upgraded to vista business x64. I got all the drives installed and everything works fine except the wireless: in the x86 version it works perfectly and since I switched to x64 I get poor connection speeds and what I suspect to be a lot of packet loss.
from what I could gather, only the driver could cause this.

has anyone else encountered this problem with intel's 4965AGN? any help would be appreciated...

cheers.

you could try installing these drivers:

64bitdrivers.com: Intel PROset Wireless Drivers for Vista x64

They`re the factory ones. Remember to install the intel driver .inf install package:

64bitdrivers.com: Intel Chipset Software INF Installation Utility for x64

Dell offers a newer version 11.1.1.3. is the older version better? am I really the only one experiencing this?

I would stick with the official drivers - Dell may well have modified them to go with their hardware specifically.
