System Shock 2

Hello everyone.

I installed SS2 on this PC (runs windows vista home premium 32bit), but sadly the game won't run correctly.

I've looked around a little bit, and I see that not watching the videos is a common problem.

But that's not my main problem <:/

I can run the game just fine for about 30 seconds... suddenly, it just freezes. The last sound is looped, and the mouse is frozen.

I've tried to run it in compability mode, but did not help very much...

So, if anyone knows how to fix this, please post a reply!

I've looked around the web, and found no "guides/tutorials", justsome discussions about it...

Re: System Shock 2

Look in your error logs.

Left Click on Start Menu.
Right click on Computer and choose manage.
Click on the event viewer.
You now have loads of options to try and pin down what is happening.
Expand the error tab.
Look for things in the last 24 hours.

This may give us an insight in how to help you.
Post a reply to let us know the answer.
If this helped tip my scales.

Re: System Shock 2

System Shock 2 is an old game and not written for Vista and trawling through google I found that it unfortunately cant be played on Vista PROPERLY without some really technical patching of which I aint even gonna bother quoting.
You could google it and try and follow how to patch it up, but to be honest just looking at the methods, its a right royal pain.

Re: System Shock 2

I ran into the same problem with the sound looping, and freeze. I fixed it by running the game, going to task manager, and finding the system shock 2 in processes, then right-clicking on it and going to "Set affinity" and only using one CPU core, as System Shock 2 can't run on more than one core. This fixed the Freeze and Sound bug for me, however, System Shock 2 may still crash at loading screens. Good luck with getting it to run, it's a great game

Re: System Shock 2

Would it work if you use Linux/ubuntu/debian etc and wine as it emulates XP?
