Hi after upgrading my graphics card I now feel travel sick when playing cod4..I have a 24 " monitor .I cant work out if its a mouse issue a setting issue or what.I find playing on a lowere resolution is a bit better but spoils the looks of the game. When i stand still and turn things seem a bit jerky.Got head ache and nausea from playing for 20 mins.Any ideas.

So just to clarify what you said, game play seems jerky? Is it jerky when you are standing still looking at one point, or does it only jerk when you are turning? If its the latter, it may just be a case of low fps while turning. I understand you have the 9800GX2, but from what I've read, that card hasn't been performing as it should in some cases.

I have the same feeling when I play CoD4. I barely got though training before I felt like throwing up.

However I'm not having any problems with video card or lag issues. The game in general just makes me feel sick to my stomach.

Some people are just not used to the fast paced action in FPS games. Easily gives them a headache or something.

katconfuzer: Two things that gave me the same problem. The first was before I ever made this new computer. Mouse sensitivity. Try easing up on it a little at a time to where it is still smooth yet not slow. When i built this system, I maxed out all the features I never could before, one at a time if I wasn't sure what they did, and the "Synch every frame" did me the way you are describing. If you have it on, turn it off and try it. Hope that helps. LOL I don't know much about computers but I DO know my games.

Check out our COD4 clan server sometime. I don't know if I'm allowed to post it here but if you want I can send it to you in a PM.

EDIT: I also went with the 9800GX2. I got two of them and am running SLI. How is your sound card working? I have one but haven't put it in yet as I see many folks having problems with it.

There might be an option in your Windows mouse settings called something like: improve pointer precision, this I personally think should be unchecked. Also after going from Windows XP to Vista, Vertical Sync also known as Vsync is enabled, after forcing this to be off, I feel that the ingame experience is so much more comfortable.

ref nausea: i got that too from the game but it was only due to lag on game servers other than that it seamed ok

I'm not sure about playing online (cause my internet connection is quite bad), but I know that two things that are essential (which can help in this case) are:

1.) Mouse Sensitivity
2.) Monitor Refresh Rates

If you have a good quality mouse, use the latest drivers and set your mouse rate to a reasonable settings (500Hz is ideal....over that is unnecessary, and chews unnecessary CPU power).

Whether you're using a CRT or LCD, always set your monitor to the highest refresh rate of any resolution. Also, if you have the power from your PC, set VSync on all the time. It maintains FPS to your current refresh rate and shouldn't be hectic on your eyes.

Aside from that, I donno...if you've played FPS often, then you should be accustomed to the genre by now. Otherwise, you'll just have to play and get used to it.
