Legend Of Mir 2 Problems. Need Help

Can anyone help me please. Im running Vista Home Basic, and trying to get Legend of Mir 2 to work properly. My problem is, when i launch the game everything seems OK until the login screen comes up. My laptop screen then goes white, and the music from the login screen can be heard in the background. The Mir exe shortcut also says 'only one program enabled' when it's launched. Using a shortcut to the Mir 2 patch starts the game up OK, but results in the white screen. (Cant see to login).
Also both icons have the Microsoft little symbol on them. Other programs which work OK do not have it.
Strangely enough, Mir 3 USA works fine. So does World Of War Craft.
So im guessing its some kind of graphics issue, or software/permissions conflict.

Im totally new to Vista, so really could use some help.

Whats the make/model of your laptop? You can find it on a sticker underneath it and would be very useful for us to know what system your using and a possible cause...

Its a Fujitsu Semens Esprimo Mobile. 1.86 Ghz Celeron, 1GB ram. Im using Vista Home Basic also.
