Issue: Cannot locate the DVD-ROM

Hey everyone,

I'm new here and really enjoy these forums dedicated to Vista.

I've got a game issue with the new Iron Man game released last week by Sega. It's affecting a lot of the PC gamers, but no one has found a solution yet. Hopefully, someone in here has some ideas or a solution.

Iron Man installed fine, but when we go to launch it, we get the same error box popping up, saying:

"Cannot locate the DVD-ROM"
"Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, select OK and restart application"
Then there's the OK button at the bottom

There's only 1 DVD for this game and it has to be in the drive for the game to run. The game just refuses to run.

I finally sat down this weekend and all day today, trying different things, like cycling between the different compatibility modes, updating DVD firmware, tweaking the game's INI files, and Googling every damn thing I can think of to see if there any other solutions or anyone who's solved this. Nothing works.

Some people can play it fine and some can't. I'm wondering if it's x64 that's the issue. Maybe this game can't run on it. But it installed fine, which is a head scratcher. I've got Halo CE and Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 and they installed and run fine.

I'm still looking around and trying things. Today is the last day I'm screwing with this game. Tomorrow is the last day my local GameStop will take the game back for a full refund.

Anyone have any ideas or a solution to this?

Thanx

Re: Issue: Cannot locate the DVD-ROM

Indeed I have found a solution that was posted on another forum.

Go to: GameCopyWorld - Iron Man - NoCD No-CD No-DVD Trainers & Game Fixes[MULTI3]%20No-DVD/Fixed%20EXE

There you can download a fix and the unzipping program for it. Once installed, I was able to play the game, so I kept my Iron Man instead of returning it.

The game is ok and the graphics aren't great. But it's a nice, easy game to play when you're not in the mood for heavy games like Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 or Halo, etc.

There's some rumor that they're going to redo this game and port it from the Xbox 360, instead of the PS2 like this game is. But it's just rumor right now.

Hi Darth...thanks for the heads up on the new patch. I just discovered it myself and will install it.
