Black Screen On Games 32bit.

I have vista home basic 32 bit and i have installed and tryed to play numerous games including: Medieval 2: Total War, Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 2 and recently Farcry. When i open Medieval 2, u can see the cursor with the loading hour glass and then it says "Error" and closes. Battle for Middle Earth 2 loads with a blank black screen but u can hear the sound from the menu. And Farcry loads with a blank black screen but u cant hear or see anything.

My Specs are.
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20ghz (2 CPUs), ~3.2ghz
1022mb RAM
Nvidia GeForce 6200 Turbo Cache - Intergrated RAMDAC 266mb
And I currently have DirectX 10

Im so bored and need to play these games.

Anyhelp would be awesome.

Regards, Piepeople.

There might be a lot of reasons why you're experiencing those things, try updating the drivers (driver are the no. 1 cause of crashes in windows Vista). How bout compatibility ? try running them at win xp s2 at the compatibility tab. ^_^

hmm.. I've encountered that on Xp Sp2 that's why I upgraded to vista 64. Try patching your games to the latest version, I've heard that they include compability fixes

Re: Black Screen On Games 32bit.

Sounds like it could be a codec/movie player application that is messing up your intro movies.

Are you running the applications as administrator?

I had a problem running MTWII once, gave me a black screen because i selected widescreen in the setup options before running the game. I reset to standard, and then changed using the in game options.

I've played MTWII on Vista64 Sp1 and it works fine, so im guessing its a system problem rather than an OS problem

Hi Pieppl,

Have you downloaded the latest system and graphics drivers for your devices?
Have you also downloaded the latest game patch for each game?

You need these to make the games work

Steven

Hello pieppl,

Have you installed the DirectX redist update package??? You do need it for games.

Download details: DirectX Redist (March 2008)
