I just bought a cheap desktop.
Acer M3100
AMD Anthlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ 2.50 GHz
3 gigs of RAM
VisionTek HD2400 Pro PCI 256Mb (Just bought this...only PCI card BestBuy had...)
Windows Vista 32 bit

I didnt expect to be able to play any newer games, but I had planned on enjoying the occasional older game. Ive tried running Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, and Max Payne 2. All games have had stuttering issues during cut scenes (Beyond Good and Evil so much so, that I havnt been able to get past the intro). Max Payne is the only game thats in game play is tolerable.

Its possible that this is to be expected, as it is not a great setup, but if anyone can offer any help, Id really appreciate it.

*I know is is meant to be for the 64 bit Vista, but it seemed like a fairly active forum.

Hi KIDiotequeA,

PCI graphics cards are very slow compared with AGP or PCI-E cards, I doubt you will get any good graphics performance using PCI anytime in the future so I would consider an upgrade.

You get what you paid for. I have seen decent computer for $600 at Best Buy and Circuit City that you could game on.

I have this problem with Neverwinter Nights 2, once it's expansion Mask Of The Betrayer is installed and I'm running a $500.00 Radeon 3870X2. However Neverwinter Nights 2 runs just fine, with patch 1.04 installed.
