| Vista Home Premium x64 | Question about a few games in x64 Hello, everybody. I found this website while researching some issues relating to gaming in Vista x64. I have a desktop running 32-bit Vista Home Premium, and everything works perfectly, but I just ordered a laptop from HP that runs 64-bit Vista Home Premium and I have some questions. Will there be any differences installing games in x64, or should it work just the same as in 32-bit? For example, if I put the Oblivion or World of Warcraft discs in my laptop, will they behave the same, or will I need to do something differently? The games I have/will be getting are: World of Warcraft Warcraft III Oblivion The Orange Box BioShock Crysis (also, will Firefox work?) Are there any known issues for these games, or am I in the clear? I apologize if this has been covered earlier; I have no experience with a 64-bit OS and don't know what to expect. |

| Vista Home Premium x64 SP2 | Re: Question about a few games in x64 Yes your discs will behave the same. One of the only major differences you should be aware of between 32 and 64 bit Vista is different drivers. 64 bit Vista cannot use 32 bit drivers, and the 64 bit drivers must also be digitally signed. You can install 32 bit programs like Firefox and Steam will work fine. You shouldn't have any problems with any of those games except perhaps Warcraft III that upon a quick search of its compatibility, it seems there may be some issues with sound but I didn't go in depth, so the problem may have already been fixed. Hope this helps. |

| Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: Question about a few games in x64 Thanks. Yes, I knew that I would need different drivers. I just didn't know what would happen if I installed a 32-bit program on 64-bit Vista. I know a lot of this (like the Warcraft III issue) must be covered elsewhere on the board, but I wanted to ask specifically about my situation before I start thoroughly searching it. Good to know that my old games/programs will work. Thanks again! |
