g'day i just installed battlefield 2 on vista home premium 32bit
i have a dell xps m15300 with 4 gb ram 2.4ghz so its fast enough to run the game..

my computer uses nvidea geforve and it seems that my non-PnP monitor is set to 63hz refresh rate and i think it needs to be 60 for the game to work... how do i fix it? when i go into monitor settings its got a dropdown menu with only 62hz as an option....

help please

The refresh rate only affects your monitor, your game will still run. However, you have to specifically give us the specs of your video card.

Hi Sickdrummer,

The refreshrate setting on LCD monitors makes no difference it only serves to cause more problems with LCD monitors, Have you updated BF2 with the latest game patch from EA ?

STeven

My Computer

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

it starts fine... but before any of the start graphics come upthe screen goes black like it does before it goes into the game.... then it goes back to normal desktop and nothing happens or appears in processes or programs....

My Computer

That is true, you must confirm that you have installed every single patch that has been released by EA, else you won't be able to run the game without trouble.

OK, then try this - download Driver Cleaner Professional download from Guru3D.com and install it. Next reboot into Safe Mode. Run Driver Cleaner, and clean out your nVidia driver entries. Now, reboot back into normal mode. Download the absolute latest drivers for your video card and install them (make sure you don't try to fool the system by using newer drives - enter the card info *exactly*, as in GeForce 8 series, and your OS version, and download the driver that it shows you.

See if that helps.

My guess is that for some reason the resolution in-game is at a setting that ur graphics card can not achieve eg: in-game 1600x1200 desktop display settings 1280x1024

And in that case you could try renaming the configuration file in the game folder and see if the game tries to set it self up again....

im getting quite grumpy with this machine now....
i swapped it for gears of war... i get a message at the start saying i need to install nvidea forcedriver 163.44 ... i downloaded it tried to install it and it comes up as "this program is designed for the operating system windows vista 32-bit and has detected that this is not your operating system, setup will now close"

then it closes... but i am sure im running vista 32 bit i checked in control panel.... wat do i do now. gears of war will nearly start but when it starts loading the start of a campaign it says "gears of war.exe has encountered a problem blah blah and stops working".... any clues?

I installed BF2 and 1.41 in Vista x64 Ultimate. I do have UAC disabled. BF2 plays fine. I am getting the new patch tonight.

Hey Sickdrummer,

The game is now running ok alittle slow but on the log in screen and the Lobby screens I get a funny flashing and wierd colors and shapes that are all over it. I have the Latest drivers and I have messed with all the screen Res that are avalible. I have updated all the avalible updates from Windows and still it does this is my Vid card not compatible with this Machine thats the only thing I can figure out. On the other hand I put in GH3 and it works great but didnt on my other pc due to memory. I am running 2g of memory.
