No Association for included games?

When I try to open any of the games included with my Vista x64 premium, I get the error message:

"The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the set associations control panel"

When I check the associations, it tells me the games are associated to their respective exe files.

Am I missing something here? Is this secret Vista business?

Re: No Association for included games?

Nope, because they all work for me just fine.

have you recently done something to your system, like, say, change permissions on files / folders, or moved your special folders from their respective location to new locations?

Re: No Association for included games?

I have done nothing, except run a program that deletes the shortcut arrows on desktop icons. The ink file I believe?

I have since uninstalled all games and reinstalled them via the Program Features, still no good?

Re: No Association for included games?

Fixed, it seems that if you remove the shortcut arrows by deleting or changing the IsShortcut value in the registry, you upset a few other files including the Vista games.

I restored the IsShort value and all is now back to normal.

Re: No Association for included games?

I used Frameworkx.com - Downloads - Vista Shortcut Manager to change them to the pretty blue arrows. This is the preferred method because it doesn't remove the IsShort settings in the registry....
