    Assertion Failed Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Hi, I'm playing this game called Titan Quest. It works fine in Single-player and in Multi-player whenever I host. However, when I begin a search for games to join I get this error.

    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Assertion Failed!

    Program: ...iles\THQ\Titan Quest Immortal Throne\TqitD.exe
    File: .\common\gsPlatformSocket.c
    Line:236

    Expression: theSocket !=INVALID_SOCKET

    Abort, Retry, Ignore

    I'm not sure if this is a game problem or a windows problem. Please Help if you can, Thank you.

    Re: Assertion Failed Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Try downloading and installing the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Package.

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)

    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x64)

    Let us know if it helps

    yes this does sound like a corruption in the Runtime Library
    and re-installing the latest version should help sort the problem out, if not then it may be you need to obtain the latest Titan Quest patch for the game

    would it be the 2008 C++ redist or the 2005 C++ Redist?

    it really should not make any difference as 2008 should be fully backwards compatible

    Point taken. As long as it is....

    But that is also a concern - perhaps it is not?

    programs like that are supposed to work in the same way as the likes of DirectX
    (designed to update the original version that was embedded into the OS and or to fix corrutions)
    at the same time there would also be no harm in installing both 2005 and 2008 to be 100% sure of having the correct version

    Re: Assertion Failed Visual C++ Runtime Library

    As ripbox mentioned, 2008 is fully compatible with 2005. Just recently, I uninstalled my 2005 libraries and installed both x86 and x64 2008 libraries and I haven't had any problems.

    Re: Assertion Failed Visual C++ Runtime Library

    well i have this same problem and i downloaded the x86 but its not working for me... still getting that assertion fail... its saying like this:

    "Asserion failed!

    Program: D:\THG\Tqit.exe
    File:.\common\gsPlatfromSocket.c
    Line:236

    Expression:theSocket!=INVALID_SOCKET

    For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on assterts

    (Press Retry to debug the application- JIT must be enabled)

    and if i just ignore it many many time i will be able to join the games but its not workign good... and i don't want to press ignore all the time
