Sims2

Hi-
I have tried to play Sims2 pets after recently installing it and whenever I go to create a new family the game always freezes up and when I do ctrl+alt+del it says the program is not responding. I saw some posts about running the game in compatibility mode, but when I set up those setting it does not recognize the CD as being in my drive. I would appreciate any help I can get! It's frustrating spending so much on sims and the expansion packs to not have them work! Thanks in advance for any help!

There could be many possibilities to your game freezing.
First, make sure everything is up to date:
1. Your game has the latest patches and updates
2. Graphic card drivers are the latest
3. Sound drivers are the latest
4. That you have the latest DirectX June 2008
5. And all other updates for your computer

If everything is up to date, then we could move on to further troubleshooting.
