Crysis demo frozen

I just downloaded the crysis demo, to check it out, and when I load it it just goes black and nothing happens...I have to go to task manager to shut it down?
Its a new Vista 64 install, so far most things have gone well, I have a few issues I cant figure out when I try to watch video in Explorer, and my HP printer, but all else is fine?

Nothing too fancy but all seems to work smoothly till now.

You should be able to run the game just fine with that system...perhaps the download is corrupt, care to try again?

I may have to give it a try.
BTW I also noticed that I never got a short cut on the desktop after I installed it either,when i looked for the program it was in the games folder and I launched it from there? Is this just the way Vista operates?

All my desktop icons are hidden and I typically launch the game via the games folder myself.

In this particular game, yes - Crysis installs itself to the Games folder (much as Mass Effect and Sins of a Solar Empire) but that is by design. By putting itself in the Games folder, it allows the game to pick which to use - 32bit app or 64 bit app - based upon your OS.

Well I have heard there are issues with Nvidias drivers, but I thought I had the latest installed. Ver. 7.15.11.7516 is whats showing as my adapter drivers currently.

If other games run like they are supposed to I wouldn't think it's a hardware issue. Have you visited your GPU manufacturer website to see if there is an update available?

I haven't gotten a hold of F.E.A.R. yet -( - May pick that up soon enough though....

There most definitely is a newer version. The video card that you are running, Skiddy, is virtually the same as the one that I have - mine is made by eVGA, but other than that they are identical, AFAICT. The latest release driver from nVidia for that card is *actually* 175.19 (7.15.11.7519) and the beta release drivers (which allows the G92 GPUs to *finally* use the PhysX software) is 177.79 (7.15.11.7779).

Well I have that driver downlaoded to my desktop, but I havent updated a driver in several years so , do I have to manually uninstall the old version first, and if so is there a quick way to do that with Vista 64?
Also what the heck is Physics drivers?

Hi There - I had exactly the same problem on the full version of Crysis. My motherboard has built in NVIDIA network ports and while I don't know why it works, I came across a post that said to disable the NVIDIA network access manager (at least I think that was the name) and everything worked with Crysis no problem at all after that.

I jsut visited the second link you posted, hoping there was a screenshot - because I don't ahve that installed on my system, and of course Crysis runs fine - but the part I
just put a shortcut on my desktop pointing here.

is hokey because using the Games explorer when you run Crysis it auto selects 32bit versus 64bit based on the system it is installed on....so making said shortcut is hokey.

Also, when I made such a shortcut, I *did* get black screens in the beginning - but when I started using the Games Explorer the black screens stopped.
