Sims2 with Vista

Sims 2 dose not seam to work with vista very well, during game play the screen would go blank and the game would be un-playable, the only way to get back to the desk top was to re-start the computer, if any one is haveing the same or simular problems please let me know, im trying to see if this problem can be solved, however,
There may be a possibility that vista aint the problem it could be high spec graphics cards like the Nvidia 8600GT and the 8800 GT works fine with XP And Nvidia 6700GS but the same occurs to the game when played with higher cards on XP i tried sims2 with a 7600GT but was not working recommended the 6700GS.

Re: Sims2 with Vista

Do you have the latest drivers for your components and the latest patches for the Sims 2?

Here's the link to the latest DirectX
Here's the page with the latest Sims 2 Patches
Also, be sure that your graphics card has the latest driver. You could get it by searching for your model in Dell's website, or from nVidia's driver site assuming you have either a 8800M GTX or 8800M GTS.

If those do not work, I noticed that the Sims 2 uses the C++ runtime components. The latest build could be downloaded from Download details: Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

Hope this helps

Re: Sims2 with Vista

Well it may be a stranger question, but do you have the LEGIT/LEGAL Sims 2? I've heard of some hard-issues with "Burn" Copies of the game, and people using the No-CD Cracks. This answer will determine whether or not WE can help you.

Downloaded content from the internet sometimes wont work properly, sometimes it even stops the game from loading, objects or other items flash red if they cant be loaded that means the content is ither dissabled or not working correctly when the games says enable custem content or not make sure you enable the custom content, if the issue continues, remove the effending file. hope this helps

Re: Sims2 with Vista

Yes thats possible, it probably need a better system if your laptop also is too new sims may also not function corrctly as sims 2 is a older game most new laptops have higher spec graphics cards like the Nvidia 8800 GT sims 2 wont work with my laptop because of the graphics card is too high spec, or it could be that the game just dont like Vista.
