Vista - System Shock Blackscreen/No movie

Hello,

I recently brought System Shock 2, and am having trouble.

The game loads fine, but without and intro movies, and if i click intro, it goes straight back to the menu screen after a "blip" like transition. I can enter the game without any startup movies, and massive screen fritz. Once in, I can't save the game without it crashing, and as i board a shuttle(i think im boarding) it also crashes.

Im running 2.0GHZ Vista Home Premium 32bit
3gig Ram
8800Go GS 128mb.

I also have the game fully modded, lastest patch and Dual core fix.

The game was released in 1999. It may turn out to be one of those games that just doesn't run on Vista? This thread suggests that even in XP you have to run in compatibility mode for Windows 2000: System Shock Series FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (Technical / Purchasing / Etc.) - TTLG Forums

However, if you want to give it a shot, I would update both graphics and sound drivers, as well as DirectX: Latest DirectX Update

Then I'd re-install it using the method described in the post linked and see if you can also attach run as admin? Try all the compatibility modes Vista offers. Good luck.
