| Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit | Games with Vista System-Missing I've been playing the games already installed, Chess, Free Cell, Spider Solitare etc for 6 wks now and the other day I went to play and none of them open, its like they aren't there. Any ideas on what happened and how to get them back??????? |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Games with Vista System-Missing Hello Susan, and welcome to Vista Forums. This usually happens when the XP method of removing or changing the shortcut arrow is used in Vista. If this is what you believed happened, then you can use this tutorial to fix the problem. Game Shortcut Links in Games Explorer Do Not Work Afterwards, you can use this tutorial to safely remove or change the shortcut arrow overlay icon in Vista if you wanted to. Shortcut Arrow Hope this helps, Shawn |

| Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit | Re: Games with Vista System-Missing We also had a quick power on and off the same day I noticed the games didn't open. This system is just Vista there was no XP on it. I did a system restore to the day before and they still don't open. Is there supposed to be a path in the "Start In" area when you open properties within the game. I can't even get the Games Explorer to open. I've only had this new system about 6 -8 wks and have had nothing but problems -drivers, printers etc |

| Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP1 | Re: Games with Vista System-Missing If you have power glitches you absolutely need to get a UPS. The power cycle off then back on with a second or so is the most likely to cause you to need to reinstall. It happened to me when OS/2 came on about 18 floppy disks. Within the first couple of weeks I had a 1/2 second power out and it corrupted my system files. After that I got a UPS and a CDROM drive(this was back in the old days when CDROM was the latest gizmo.) Anything more complicated than Dos 5 is way too much of a pain to reinstall manually. Get power backup and a backup imaging program before you invest too much time in customizing the PC setup. It must makes life with Vista much easier. |

Games Explorer Link - Fix As MilesAhead posted, you should get a UPS backup power filtering device to help protect your computer from the power glitches. These can cause all sorts of problems with your computer including permanent damage to the hardware and corruption in Vista. Hope this helps, Shawn |
