Hi kallikukur,

I play 1.6 without problems ;)

You might have a Graphics setting issue or model file issue,

Paste this command into your web browser and press enter, this will make Steam run a full diagnostic and analysis check of all games and settings and show the results after and should allow to you see the cause instantly ;)
Code:
[B]steam://support/?Issues=*[/B]
If you still have problems after doing the recommendations from the Steam Performance checks you can Rightclick CS in Steam and goto properties then set the following Launch Options...

Code:
[B]-autoconfig -32bit -sw -noipx -d3d[/B]

-Autoconfig
will discard any settings and use defaults [This will help check for any game config related errors]

-32bit will force the game to load as 32bit [can sometimes be useful for 64bit OS and dll related errors]

-sw will start in windowed mode [the game resolution can be higher than your display and cause the game to crash, this will help check if thats the cause]

-noipx will disable IPX support [not used in any Steam games but might help anyway]

-d3d will start the game in Direct3D mode [OpenGL is emulated though Direct3D so this will help determine if its a OpenGL error]

Let us know if you have any success or we can try a few more last options ;)

Even if you don't manage to play cs 1.6 on Vista is that really that much of a problem that it would be worth going back to XP over? Also you didn't mention if you had tried to play it again after you were kicked! Is this a reoccurring thing on any sever?

Have you tried my suggestions yet? One of them will solve any issues you have with Steam Games ;)

I use the same options if CS, CS Source or TF2 stuff up ;)
