Try right clicking on the icon and select "Run as administrator" see if that helps..

Re: Pirates of the caribbean-Won't run?

Right-Click on the shortcut and go to Properties > Compatibility (Or Customize > Play > Properties > Compatibility), from there check the "Disable Visual Themes" and "Disable Desktop Composition" check boxes. You can also check the "Run in compatibility mode for" check box and select Windows XP Service Pack 2.

See if that works.

Re: Pirates of the caribbean-Won't run?

I have the solution for most of the folks now attempting to run Pirates of the Caribbean. This program will not run with the new "HD" format screens. You must go to the desktop, right click, and select Properties, then Settings. Change the resolution slider to 1024x768 or 1280x1024, then click OK. The game should now operate. When done with your playtime, go back and move the slider to the last position so your screen operates optimally.

It would be nice if an error indicated an unsupported resolution - or that it was discussed in the manual, huh?! Brother!!

Re: Pirates of the caribbean-Won't run?

Before you start touching things and going crazier, did you check if your system passes or surpasses the game's minimum requirements?

Also, are you sure you have the latest drivers for all your hardware? Audio, Monitor, Video, Keyboard & mouse?

It will help you and us, tremendously, if you were to post your specs in your profile, this way, anytime you need help, we just click on "My System Specs" and we can have a better idea how to help.

Good Luck

Re: Pirates of the caribbean-Won't run?

whoa! Please read my post again. After considerable amount of research, I have noted the SOLUTION, not an unsolved problem.

I found that others who tried to run the non-4:3 format have the same issue. Doing "crazy things" like simply changing the resolution would offer a fix for many folks using the wide screens.

For the finicky folks, I'll post my PC's stats.
