Vista - COD2 Won't install ?!?!?

I tried installing COD2 and when i got to a certain point i got the message.

C:\COD2\1\P.exe is not compatible with my 64bit thing. Is there a way to get a patch for this or something?

I don't know dude. I just reformatted my desktop but I have cod2 and vista x64 so I'll try installing it tomorrow after work and let you know. I checked the windows compatibility and it says it isn't compatible for 32 or 64, it I'm pretty sure it'll run. It should put it in the programfiles(x86) when you install it, and I've installed a lot older games than cod 2 on my vista machines. I'll let you know tomorrow.

COD 2 runs fine in 32bit like a charm.

I figured it would. I haven't played the game since I've had xp on my system. I can't see what the pics look like. They won't load, but I am use google chrome so that's probably the problem. That's weird it won't install, even if it is 64. I'm thinking it's a conflict with something else, but who knows. I'll try tomorrow.

I am using a 64bit proccessor with 64bit vista. The installation file im guessing is 16bit. But i hope it works.

I don't think there 16 bit. I'm pretty sure their 32. Some one correct me if I'm wrong, please. I'm not a programmer in anyway but I believe that 16 bit games were games like super mario and sonic the hedgehog. SNES and Genisis were 16 bit. With the cod 2 being 32 bit, your 64 bit processor should still be able to handle 32 bit applications. Actually I know it can. We just have to figure out why it won't install right.

I've had problems with .cab files not being recognized right on older games... they showed as RAR file archives...had to actually unpack them onto the desktop and direct the installer to them... but I am running some pretty old games with no issues.. ( Medal of Honor Allied Assualt and Pacific Assult ) Should be a way of getting it going. But.. you never can tell.....

I was also checking on the COD sites.. theres a few things going on.. might want to check there.. seems a patch is working for some on some issues....

Doesn't matter anymore, just found out that Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 can't run COD2.

I'm running 64-bit and CoD2 runs amazingly well.

Here's what I would try. Run the installer as Admin, then also run the game as admin. I don't have to run in compatibility mode, but you might, not sure?

Hmm... I did try changing the compatibility mode on the installer and no luck.

and CanYouRunIt said I failed the CoD2 test If it can run it then ill still go for it.
