HELP :(
I'm looking for advice on what is the best joystick that is Vista compatable for arcade/1st person shooter games like Chaos engine, The Suffering etc.
I don't need anything too fancy as I'm NOT a serious gamer & NOT into flight sims etc.

Thanx in advance for any help :cool:

While it's really a gamepad rather than joystick, my suggestion is;

Xbox 360 Controller for Windows

They have a USB adapter than allows you to use an original XBOX 360 wireless controller too (which is awesome if you own one :P). It also allows you to connect any wireless XBOX 360 hardware to your pc, such as their headsets. There is a bundle with a controller and the dongle available too, but the wired edition is cheaper so I suggested that to start.

Yeah! I've the same problem but the easy fix is setting the screensaver and when to turn off monitor to NEVER.When you leave to go somewhere else just turn off the monitor via the power button. My PC is always on 24/7 and never have I used screen savers (for LCD(you don't need them)).Just turn it off at the power button at the front.I've a Logitech Attack 3 joystick for flight sims and a generic game pad for platform and driving games.(both usb). For real FPS I suggest using the mouse and keyboard!.

There are quite a few joysticks mentioned. As I'm a novice can someone suggest say maybe the top 3 suitable for my need please? Just a non fancy shmancy joystick for arcade/1st person shooter games.

My Computer

There is no top 3 most suitable, it all comes down to what you like. But considering the popularity of FPS games on consoles, dual analog gamepads should work fine. In my opinon the XBOX 360 controller is the best of the lot...

Saitek make a cyborg evo joystick that I use, it is very good and compatable.

I just got my cyborg evo joystick,
But it doesn't seem to work with the 2 games I have on my PC Chaos Engine & the Suffering. The joystick arrived with little instructions & no disk :(
Am I supposed to be looking for games that specifically need a joystick to be able to use it?

It should be enough that they specifically support joystick control... I can't see anyone using the cyborg evo for a 1st person shooter though, but that's just me, I may be wrong.

I agree with mike that a FPS game should not use a joystick.
The norm is using a mouse to look and shoot and the keyboard to move around.
I dont think these games will support a joystick.
Look at the sietek site for drivers and software.
