| Vista Ultimate x64 | CoD4 Cannot Install Hello, This is my first post and I've searched these forums looking for my answer before I posted. Anyways, hopefully someone can help me or point me in the right direction. I bought a Gateway LX6200 last night brand new:AMD Phenom™ X4 9500 64-bit Quad-Core Processor (2.20GHz, 2MB L3 Cache, 3600MHz HT3.0 Bus) Genuine Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium (64-bit) with Service Pack 1 8192MB 800MHz Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAM (4-2048MB modules) 750GB 7200rpm Serial ATA II/300 hard drive with 16MB Cache4 Premium Tower Desktop with Media Control Interface Gateway Official Site: Shop - Desktops – LX6200-01 Product Details - LX 6200 01 Product Details The video card comes with:ATI® Radeon™ HD 3200 Integrated Graphics with up to 256MB of Shared Video Memory. I bought a new graphics card: VisionTek - ATI Radaon HD 4670 1 GB PCI Express Card. VisionTek - ATI RADEON HD4670 1GB DDR3 PCI Express Graphics Card - 900251 So my specs are above and my problem(s) are below: 1.) I try and install CoD4 and I get to the installation part and it doesnt get far into the install and it errors with: Error 1305.Error reading from file 2.) I also tried BF2 and installed, it froze on opening Menu_client.exe and told me it failed to install and try again from the beginning. (Freezes at the same point everytime - at very beginning of installation) Things I have done: 1.) Searched google and high and low in forums. 2.) Best Buy installed the card, so hopefully its not an installation problem. 3.) Installed, re-installed the driver 4.) Copied the CD to local storage and tried that way. So the 1305 seems to be a faulty disk. I wish it was the case and Im goign to borrow a friends disk after work and see if that works. The same disk works on my old Windows XP computer. If the new disk doesnt work, then Im going to re-install windows vista 64 from scratch and re-install all the drivers. If anyone can help me out and get me playing again, that would be great. Otherwise, if nothing else works, ill be back up at bestbuy ![]() Thanks! |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: CoD4 Cannot Install Problem Resolved. Strangely enough, both of my game disk must have been scratched to make a the errors. They both seem to work on my old windows xp desktop, but I receive errors on my new one. I borrowed a friend disk for CoD4 and it installed fine. I downloaded a BF2 torrent (which took all night) and that installed and worked fine. After all the patches where installed on both games, they both worked great with incredible speed. So, in conclusion, it had to be the old cd's I was using. They looked clean and not hardly scratched, but it made a difference when I used my friends disk that was almost brand new. |
