Hi Everyone.

I purchased COD5 yesterday and cannot play in Single player mode.

I was told that the problem coudl be between my graphics card (Geforce 8800gt) and my network card (Realtek RTL8168B/8111B Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)

I think I have the latest drivers installed. I also downloaded the latest directx drivers as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The program stops working and I get the following error:

Try installing the 1.1 patch for COD5.

Yeah I've installed the patch. I've tried it both with and without but had no luck.

I can play multiplayer just fine...weird.

I usually do a google search before I install or buy a game just to see what kind of problems people are having since, for the most part, I am bound to have them as well ;) I also do it because of the bad optimized console ports to PC games that we have been getting as of late, problems like this can and will occur with more frequency.

Anyways, I read somewhere that the installation will ask you to install Directx 9 and if you don't, regardless of whether you don't need Directx9 or not, the game will crash on you.

Hopefully, this will help fix that, otherwise... I'm stumped!

Interesting. I have DX10 installed so I cancelled the DX9 setup while installing COD5 and I don't have any problems with single player.

Perhaps you can try reinstalling with DX9 or uninstall and reinstall again. A file may have been corrupted during the initial installation.

I have loaded the latest directx files on 2 occasions.

It's weird that I can play the multiplayer but not the singleplayer.

Definitely a bummer:mad:

Any idea what is causing the conflicts?

Okay, try copying the single-player executable from your COD5 DVD to your installation folder. This method assumes F is your DVD drive letter and you're using the command line:

Code:
cp F:\Setup\Data\CoDWaW.exe C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War

This assumes you have Vista x64 (otherwise use C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War for your installation directory).

You're essentially replacing the executable in case it was corrupted during installation.

HTH

Hi, i am posting this now, because i just got this problem on my vista 32 bit. Before, i mean like a year before, i could play call of duty singleplayer and multiplayer fine. But, now, even i install and reinstall with all the recommended settings (DX9, Punkbuster), i can't get codwaw.exe to work. Multiplayer is fine by the way. Without any patch, i tried to download codwaw.exe off of an internet and it works, as long as i dont apply patches (for new zombie maps). When i click on codwaw.exe, an vista version of hourglass comes up and disappears quickly and if you watch this from your task manager on process section, codwaw.exe pops up and closes. There is no error sign nor anything. it just doesn't even start.

My specs: GeForce 9600m gt, 4g of ram, ddr3 512mb, intel centrino 2...

I personally don't think it is my LAPTOP, because it worked fine when CoDWaW just came out.
Any possible suggestions would be very grateful

oh, and i am posting this now, because this is the closest problem subject in any forums till now.

AND, i upgraded all my drivers up to date.
