| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: Choppy gameplay, fps droping, HELP! You're getting 50-60 FPS? If so that is not bad the game only maxes out at 60 if you have vsync enabled. Unless you're using a CRT and even then I dont see why you wouldnt have it on. Also you have to give more info than just "choppy gameplay". I play the game as well and with it maxed out, like literally I cant set anything higher AA or AF 1680x1050, I am still getting 40FPS average. Anyway give more info and I can try and help. Tell me what settings you're using, what drivers all the usual things. |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Choppy gameplay, fps droping, HELP! Well atm i dont play WoW anymore. But I play Tibia..My thoughts was that Tibia use directx 9, and Vista use 10. Can that be the problem? And lol i use 32bit, isnt this a 64 forum? |

| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: Choppy gameplay, fps droping, HELP! No this is a general discussion board for all versions of the Windows Vista platform. Also, you still didnt give me any more info, such as video driver version or description of the issue. It could be something as simple as windows running services in the background or an anti-virus/spyware program that just needs to be set to not do anything on its own unless at your scheduled time. Oh and by the way running a DirectX 9 game under vista, at least from my experiances yields exactly the same if not better performance than under XP. So no that should not be a problem. Just so you know I have XP and Vista installed on seperate HDDs that I choose which one I want to use when I start up. 99% of the time its Vista |

| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: Choppy gameplay, fps droping, HELP! Your expectations are too high. Even with a 3GHz Conroe the 8600 GT delivers marginal performance at 1280x1024. 1680 is a big jump; perhaps too much for the card to handle? AnandTech: 8600 GT/GTS Follow-up Performance About the only thing you can do is to turn down your settings as low as possible to avoid lag. |

| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: Choppy gameplay, fps droping, HELP! Im not sure where the 8600 stands but I believe I have heard that its not a very good card. Its basically a low end DX10 card. You've got a generally nice system there but you definitely skimped on the GPU. You should have went with a 512 MB graphics card if you wanted performance in 1680x1050. Not to put your choice down or anything as not knowing a lot about computers is not your fault. Look into a 9800GTX or 260 768MB card if you want really good performance. Or at least an 8800GTX. Buying a 256MB card these days for gaming is almost as poor a choice as trying to run Vista with only 1 gig of ram. Speaking of which if you dont have the money to buy a new video card right away buy more ram. Is amazingly cheap like my local small PC shop I go to sells sticks of 1gb ddr2 5300 for 17$. 17$!!! lmao |

| Vista Ultimate 64 | Re: Choppy gameplay, fps droping, HELP! I concur, sounds like card is maxed. If you can scrounge up another $35 you can get this 9800GTX 512 from Newegg with free shipping. Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N879-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards Best deal out there I think is this one: Geforce GTX 260 896mb for $220 and comes with Farcry2, also free shipping. Have to make sure it fits your Mobo though, it takes up 2 slots and you might have to get another PSU unless you already have over 500W. Then again you might be just as well off or maybe better off getting a Geforce 8800GT 512mb. This one is only $95. Newegg.com - XFX PVT88PYHF4 GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards Then spend $38 on 4GB of good memory. Newegg.com - Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory |
