Old game error messages

This is a question that has been asked before, and I'm sorry for bringing it up again, but I need some help.

I'm trying to play my old copy of Hogs of War, which is an old Windows 95/98 game that won't run on NT or newer.

So far, I haven't even managed to install it without getting an error, and I'm really hoping someone could help me understand why.

I've followed the advice listed about running it in compatability mode, about running it in administrator mode, about using an iso file to run it, and ticked and unticked every compatability box there is, but no matter what I do, it always loads as far as the installation splash screen, then pops up with an error message saying that it's not compatible with Windows NT, and shuts down.

In case it makes any difference, I'm running a quad-core processor.

Hi Suika and welcome to Vista Forums

Do you still have a copy of Win98 or Win98SE? If so, you can install this in Vista using Virtual PC2007. VPC2007 will not interfere with Vista in any way. VPC2007 itself is installed and run in Vista. When it is running, it provides a shell or environment into which other OSes can be installed. You can then install programs in these OSes and, with certain limitations, run them as normal. Once you have this set up, you can install your game in the Win98(SE) environment. Check out these links for more information on how to download and use VPC2007. Note that although it doesn't officially support Home Premium, it DOES work on that platform.

Yes, I still have a copy of 98SE: I tried to partition one of my hard-drives to have it installed, but it failed due to lack of memory (on my old PC, which had 2GB of RAM... >.< )

I'll give it a try, thank you.
