360's Wireless Receiver/Controller Doesn't Work

Shucks.. just received this today and it doesn't work for squat. I'm trying to get my wireless controller to work on my 64x vista with the receiver. I've installed the necessary driver and software as well. Think I can get this working? Or do I just have to buy a wired controller, assuming that even works.

The USB is connected directly to the mob, so it's not power related. I've restarted and disconnected all other usb connections. Also those little signal buttons don't help either.

Again I'm hearing this a common problem. Either because my pc can't pump out enough power for it, even though it's high end. Or there are driver conflicts between the receiver and any logitech mouse/keyboards.

i had the same problem, but i had this problem because of my mouse, its a razer lachesis banshee V2 (eats the power because of the pulsating snakes), all i did was plug in an externally powered usb hub and plugged my wireless reciever into that and it works.

Try downloading and installing the software from Microsoft Hardware site.

lol, I couldn't even find a USB receiver to buy so I just bought a wired controller (needed a replacement anyway) and it works great. Having a cord again does suck though.
