x64/CoD 4

hi,

i've had vista 64 ultimate sp1 for awhile and decided to install call of duty 4, at the end of the install it wants to install dx9 and i think vista 64 ultimate has dx10 so i declined the dx9 install. when i try to run the game it wont run but calls for a file named D3DX9_34.DLL

does anybody know the fix ?

install directx9c? you need to install dx9 because the game requires the files for it to work.
please look at the last post for information here> Latest DirectX Update

Re: x64/CoD 4

I installed the dx9c on the disc and all is well, I was just wondering if I would mess up dx 10 and future games may want it, but the dx updates should be backward compatible shouldn't they.

Re: x64/CoD 4

well all directx does when it updates is add a new d3dx9_xx.dll file to the C:\windows\system32 directory, so if something was to get overwritten, it would just be with the same file & cause no harm.
