Vista - CS 1.6 problems

Hi

Got a new laptop for xmas and decided to install cs 1.6 after a very long time.

But now when connecting to a server it loads two bars and crashes and becomes un responsive.

Its vista home premium 64bit

Any ideas?

open your launch options and type -32bit in the command line. This helped for me also you might want to try cl_timeout 99999 in console. The problem may be with your computer not being good enough to run the game but i seriously doubt that. However you might wanna try lowering all your settings just to check.

IF you click new game and load your own game does it have the same problem? this could help you know if its a internet problem or a software issue

Just tried -32bit and that was no help, same with cl_timeout

the specs are

2.26 dual core
4 gig of ram
nvidia 521 graphics

Have you tried clicking new game and just loading a game by youself? Im just curious if it would load when theres no interent involved.
Only other things i could sugest is adjusting your video card options such as turning of Vsync and AA. Also you might want to go to propreties where the launch options are and click the local files tab and verify integrity of game cache aswell as defrag cache files.

Just tried a new game and that failed.. same with defrag and verify.

realy am stuck on this one

if the new game doesnt work then its somthing to do with your computer id try all video settings as low as they can go and see if that works lowest resolution 16bit all that stuff.

Do other games run fine with no problems?

Still cant get to the bottom of this
