World of Warcraft server issues

I am running out of options to try and fix the issue that I am currently having.

I am running Vista Home Premium x 64. The computer will not allow any of the Blizzard programs access to their servers, or that's what I'm assuming the problem is. I've gone around just about every way I could think of to try and remedy this problem, static IP address, going through my router and enabling all the ports that are needed to run wow..

I'm stumped. I have a very similar game that I dont play (warhammer online) and it starts up and patches fine. I have also recently installed AVG Anti-Virus, to try and hunt down a virus, but that program cannot connect to it's servers for updating.

I had an issue with the windows updater popping up fairly frequently giving me an error message. I think in total when I found an error log there were 447 errors.

Another strange happening, is that NO other web browsers work on my system. The only 2 are IE, and IE(64). I cannot get firefox to work (my preferred browser), google chrome, or safari to connect to the internet.

I'm extremely frustrated, about to go get this thing wiped clean and start over again, and never running an update on it. Hopefully some of the Vista experts on here can help out a newb to figure out what is wrong with his system.

-Thanks.

note- I added all the other issues to hopefully give someone an idea of what i'm dealing with as far as problems. My main concern is being able to log in and play wow, but there is zero connection with any of the servers being made when I try and run it through the blizzard programming. News server, login servers, ect ect.
