I was playing with gears of war and vigas2
and they used to work just fine
but now and after instaling few updates
it gives me the masseg "Please insert the correct CD-ROM"

do you using the cracked game? this may lead to this problem as the update replace or modify your game application

You can use system restore to recover your game file too.

If you have like poweriso or daemon tools or you need to disable them.
