Freezing/Crashing Issue

Specs:
Windows Home Premium System
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 8450 Triple-Core Processor 2.10 GHz
Memory (Ram): 3:00 GB
System Type: 32-bit Operating System.
NVIDIA GeForce 8200
Dedicated Video Memory 256 MB

I play a game called CounterStrike Source alot and other online games of course but I have been having alot of problems ingame. Due to the fact that I kept freezing continuously once the first crash happened and it feels like an horrible lag spike but it isnt. My whole computer freezes for a minute or so and then resumes play like nothings happened.

I updated all my video drivers, Direct X 9.0 and the Packard Bell BIOS updates and also changed my Nvidia settings down a little while also turning my ingame graphics down no success. I decided to reinstall windows and then set the hardrive to SATA instead of the previous Raid Configuration which I then thought it would be fixed.

I then went playing on CounterStrike source and I then noticed my fps was absolutely terrible so I sorted that problem out but then after about 25 minutes my computer just crashed (No longer froze and resumed) just crashed completely my keyboard went along for the ride aswell but this has now happened about 3 times and I dont know how to fix this issue so im hoping somebody could help me?.

I downloaded all the updates obviously and turned the Vista sidebar off because its known to cause problems some people say but until this issue is resolved I cant exactly play clanmatches on my computer because I just dont know when the next Crash/Freeze will be. The first 2 times it crashed it went green the first time and then gray the 2nd time while the 3rd time it just stayed normal like I had frozen but I soon realised it crashed again.

Please help

I did post this in another thread so my apologies.

Hi Dannyboy,

Do you have the crash (BSOD) error code? You can find it listed under" Control Panel\Problem Reports and Solutions\View History" and look for an error containing "BCCode: xx" around the time of the crash.

Do you also use SATA?

Hey Steven,
It seemed to me like it froze not BSD'd. That would not have an error code...

Nope I didnt build the machine myself and Yes I am using SATA I changed it recently from Raid Configuration but suggesting changing back to the previous one will not help because it kept freezing on that aswell.

I checked in Problems and Reports and Solutions and the latest error came on Football Manager 09 with the server not responding which has been happening quite alot but with Counterstrike it was just freezing the screen and resuming didnt give me any errors or anything. But now its crashing and im having to restart the PC but still no errors on Problem Reports and Solutions.

Re: Freezing/Crashing Issue

Yeah, it wont show an error code if it just freezes...

Ok, so is the computer custom built or prebuilt?

I have never seen a PB with a triple core

Hey, relax. I had to go to bed, and being in America, I'm in a different time zone than you.

Ok, so we need to check to see if it is a hardware or software problem. Turn off your PC, and pull out all the hardware that your DO NOT need to run the computer and game. Take out everything else, VERY carefully. Then turn your PC back on, and try it. If it works, then it is a problem with something you took out. If it still freezes, then put the stuff back in, and do a repair with your Vista disk.

Re: Freezing/Crashing Issue

I have a 12 month warranty from PC World I cant just open the machine can I?

If I could I would of done that a few weeks ago when I first froze ingame because yes it could be an hardware issue or a faulty component in the system but im not entirely sure I could quite easily just blame Vista but I dont really want to change back to XP and if I have a dual boot up I might aswell stick with XP because im basically always ingame while im on the computer.

If im under warranty and I start messing about with the machine they wont agree to fix it if the machine has been meddled with?
