Is there a way to play Oblivion on a vistax64?

Hi, I have a fairly new computer (about 5 months), and I recently wanted to play Oblivion again.

When I ran the setup for it, the music would start from the setup program, and I would click yes (for permission to run the setup program) then I would get an error saying that the program has to close.

I browsed the internet for solutions, and found that Oblivion was made for XP and hasnt made a patch/compability for Vista. I also read that Oblivion can be played on a vista and that many people are doing it. I found out I had to run the setup program (and the oblivion program) in windows xp service pack 2. I installed the game with no problem after that.

Now when I run the game, it goes to the menu screen (with the option for new game, load, option, ect.), and the first couple times I would go to options to configure the graphics and sound ect... after about 10-30 seconds the computer would freeze with the screen frozen, or the computer would freeze and the screen go black. After a couple tries (after restarting the computer) I would click on "New Game". The intro movie would play for about 10 secound before my computer froze again

Please help me, I really want to play Oblivion again

Re: Is there a way to play Oblivion on a vistax64?

Btw here are some of my specs
OS - Vista Home Premium x64
Motherboard - Asus P5Q3 Deluxe
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory - 4 GB (2g x 2)
Graphics Card -ATI Radeon HD 4870x2
Sound Card - Asus Xonar D2/PM 7.1
Hard Drive -Western Digital 150GB 10KRPM 16MB

Also, I've read that I can also run Oblivion in a XP emulator (Forget what its callled, something with Virtual PC), I was wondering how well the game would run using an emulator if nothing else will work

Re: Is there a way to play Oblivion on a vistax64?

I have Vista Home Premium 64bit and I can't get the console to come up when I hit the tilde key. I haven't really had any other problems yet. Could be that I'm barely into the game at all. Oh and I also downloaded all the current patches and stuff from Bethesda as well as changing the INI file line Busejoystick=1 to busejoystick=0, that did nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am running
Vista Home Premium 64bit
AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-72 2.10 GHz
4 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200
