suddenly jerky

Hi All,

I have a dell inspiron 1720 which runs and NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT.

I've been playing call of duty 4 on it, and it's been working fine. But recently, its been jurking every few seconds, which is very anoying and spoiling game experience.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this? is hardrive of CPU a factor? do new updates from windows cause problems?

Thanks,
bruno.

Re: suddenly jerky

any background work will affect performance, i suggest you disable anything that runs automatically in the background, ie/ automatic updates(set them to notify me) and/or antivirus that auto scans at a certain time.

Re: suddenly jerky

ok, i've done that. I think what i need to do is to wait until the system idles itself, and then play.

It seems ok now thanks.
