| Vista Ultimate x64 | My computer won't read Empire: TW's disc Hello! So, I just bought Empire: Total War and now I can't install it. My DVD-drive won't read the DVD. I tried the DVD with my other comp that has XP-32 and it read it fine. Where should I start troubleshooting this problem? |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: My computer won't read Empire: TW's disc It is plugged in! The drive is DVD+-RW Dual layer drive, so it shouldn't have any problems. I just tried Crysis Warhead DVD and it didn't read that anymore. Seems like it has stopped working again. I had similar problem in august 2008, when my drive read Crysis DVD fine, but after reboot it wouldn't read anything. I got it solved by getting another drive, but now that this one doesn't also read disc's, I'm beginning to believe it has something to do with my computer. |

| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Re: My computer won't read Empire: TW's disc + 1 on the SATA or IDE... Since it is not reading any cd/dvds, you may have botched something on the registry. I know there is a workaround but if you are not savy working on the registry, I would advice against it... from personal experience! ![]() From what I read some of the new games come with some sort of DRM/securom that does not like SATA CD/DVD Roms because it reads them like a virtual drive or something of that nature. Stupid way to counter piracy because it puts a strain on the paying customers but... that's an issue. |
