Vista - old gpu's on 64bit systems

ok alot of threads regarding old gpu's on 64 bit systems and fair enough some work well enough to run some of the glitsy bits of vista 64 but some aren't even compatable

when you consider what you are doing hoping an old gpu that shouldn't be used for new games ie ati 2000 or nvidia 6000 series cards and then expecting to play eve online at 20 fps or crysis at 10 on a 32 bit system on either of the range is asking a hell of alot from a card that just isn't up to it bareing in mind that alot of these cards don't have 64 bit drivers for them and probably aren't even turned on in your system bios.

my point is if you are running a 64 bit system and you can't play games or your system is sluggish and you are running an old gpu (for some weird reason) think about changing it.

system compatability is directly linked to performance in as many ways as how good your equipment is.

I think you're saying that the 64-bit system will run games slower than the 32, which just isn't correct. Vista 64 will run a 32-bit application the exact same way that Vista 32 will. The only difference is the 64-bit system will use more memory to do it. So yes, if you're using >1gb of memory on Vista 64, you might have a sluggish system. But it won't be because of your gpu. Also, Eve-online came out in 2003. Eve Online - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I don't really consider that "new". Regardless of semantics, though, the 6XXX series GPU's came out in 2004 (GeForce 6 Series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). That's more than enough leeway to run a year old game, and in the case of the later 6600-6800 series, it's more like 2-3 years. And speaking from experience, I ran Crysis on my 6800 GT just fine.
