Unable to 'cook' grenades; installed x-mouse, still not working.

I've designated my 'button 5' as my main grenade button in CoD4. It throws the grenade fine, but it won't hold it and 'cook' it, which is keeping me from getting some additional kills. I am not starting the Dell mouse program and have installed x-mouse. I like the additional options better, but it still hasn't fixed the problem.

I've tried everything I can think of, and nothing is working. I have my system set to the 'one click' option via 'folder options', so I thought that might be the issue...nope.

If anybody can help me with this I would be forever grateful, as this has become very frustrating.

Thx.
