I have just getting my laptop that has vista home basic i feel it is ok but i cant install any of my old games that i could run on old machines? I want to install:

The sims

Theme park world ans hospital.
These games are only dated from 1998 but no new updates of the cd's are availible?

I feel like i have done everything but still i cant get the games to install, the game loads and it ask me to allow the program to install i press allow but it does not run anything after that?

Has anyone else had this problem or can you help me load these i feel i can not install anything on this computer??

Hello Kelly docherty,

Have a look through these threads and see if anything helps. I'll will say there have been reports of probems with the Sims 2 under Vista. If you're talking about the first Sims, it could very well be that it may not be able to be installed under Vista. There are in fact quite a few games from that era that don't install or work under Vista :(

Again, you could look through these threads to see if something stands out, but bear in mind we're talking about the Sims 2. I would also suggest you Visit the forums at EA to see if there are work arounds or other suggestions with regards to running the original Sims, if that's what you're talking about.

What are your system specs?
Vista Basic systems are usually so low end that they are not even able to run a full version of Vista. Have you tried running under compatability mode? Chances are that depending on your integrated gpu/RAM that even if you get the games to install they will run choppy and like a slide show with graphical errors.

Try using the Program compatability wizard
