Vista - Can't install Rhiannon

I have a store bought PC game called RHIANNON: Curse of the Four Branches. It will absolutely NOT install on my eMachines Intel Pentium 4; Intel Graphics Media Accelerator950; huge hard drive and plenty of memory. I have disabled my security: Windows Live One Care. I have attempted to copy the install.exe file onto an external hard drive but it stops after copying 75-80%. I am so frustrated! I cannot return this $30 game because it is opened software. Does anyone have ANY other suggestions as to what I can try???? I will try anything. Many thanks!

Not sure what the consumer laws are where you are but it would seem to me that, from what you say, the software disc may be defective and you should probably be entitled to at least a replacement product.

If you are actually getting error messages if you post back what the messages say then someone here may be able to help you.

I tried again to copy the install.exe file to an external hard drive. It was copying fine and the time remaining was decreasing and then, suddenly, it was as if everything stopped and the time remaining began to increase. But then it stopped totally showing 6 minutes, 15 seconds remaining and I received the message "CANNOT READ FROM THE SOURCE FILE OR DISK." What is happening here? Any help would be appreciated.

As I said in the first post it seems that the actual CD/DVD that you are copying from is corrupted or damaged. the only real way to confirm this is to try to read it on another computer, if you have access to such a thing. you could try to copy the setup exe onto another computer if the same error occurs then it's likely that the disk is a faulty one, if the other computer reads the disk it would show that the problem is with your machine
