I have vista 64 bit SP1 on my laptop and this happens to work very well with all of the games in the Age of Empires Series, including the original. Yay!

Most games will work with some tweaking. I have not had any problems as of date. Some people will have more hassle with 64bit because it is not designed to run 16bit games. There are emulators and other things you can do to get a game to work.
What kind of tweaking do I need to do to get all my old games to run? SOme of them are for Vista and they won't play. They will load, but they won't do anything!

It depends on the game.
You can try to run the very old games in Dosbox, compatability mode, Use a vertual machine running an older version of windows.
Some setups require a tweak depending on the hardware, doom3 was not supposed to work on XP but there was a hack around to get rid of th eproblem.
You need to list what games dont run and what is happening with each one.
Check your error logs, the games not running may indicate a fault somewhere else.
Check for patches and updates to the game.
Google for an answer, it is a good chance someone else has had the same problem as yourself.
Someone told me to run them as an administator. All of them worked except one called (DON"T LAUGH) Pinkie Pie's Party Parade for My Little Pony. Of COURSE, THAT is the one we need to run.

None. It just shows me the front page of Pinky Pie and has an arrow to pres START and the when I do, a blue page comes up and says INSERT CD DISC. When I do nothing happens.

After reading the Joke Thread in the chillout room this is just hilarious, lmao. Ok, I had enough. No, I'm still laughing :D The game must be jokes, I'm ask around about this if anyone knows the title. Ok, on another note, anybody tried Starcraft on Vista 64? It performs excellent on a 32 bit.
Pinky Pie/ My Little Pony is a computer game for children. I watch my sister's kids sometimes and they like My Little Pony. Of course this is the one game that won't play. I wven contaced the seller/ designer and no one knows anything. Figures.
Try to boot the program from the CD.
Is the disk damaged at all.
If there any hard drive activity starting once the CD is inserted.
Try the disk on a friends computer.
The MS website states that it is compatable with 32bit versions of vista but has no feedback for 64bit. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/co...i=8&c=PC Gaming&sc=Arcade & Classic&os=32-bit
There are certain cases where it might be hard to get a game to work on vista (especially if you are using the 64-bit version (which you really should tbh)) but as of yet I haven't found an old classic yet that I was unable to get working on vista.
hell I even play DOS games using DOSBOX, and they work like a charm! (no mismatched timesyncs making the game go uberfast or uberslow usually associated with playing DOS games on a current-day pc).
Usually setting the compatability or using an emulator will get the old classics to work.. but you have to keep in mind sometimes it isn't just vista's fault if a certain game won't work properly.
Those old games simply weren't made with hardware and software like we have it now in mind, and we just have to accept that. If you really can't I'd suggest blowing the dust off of your old computer running windows95 (or similar) and play em on there. Granted it might not look 'flashy'... but atleast its playing those games 'as they were ment to be played'.. to quote Nvidia
Regarding the Pony game thing, doesn't anybody think that the game could be a pirated copy and jewelgirl might not have applied the crack?
That's the error u usually get wen u don't copy the crack file to ur game folder.
@ JewelGirl
Just browse ur CD and check whether there is a folder called 'crack'. If there is, copy the file(s) to the folder in ur comp wher u hav installed ur game.

I have Vista 64 Bit and I still can't get this My Little Pony Game to play even though it says it's for Vista. My neighbor can play it on his computer. I have downloaded all the drivers etc but still no go. I must be doing something wrong. I just un-installed the game and re-installed it again. It refuses to play. I keep getting a blue screen telling me to insert the game disc when the disc IS in the computer. I have to shut down to get out of the blue screen. WHat is 64 bit? is it something different from just Vista? Can I turn the computer ack to just Vista or will it screw up everything else I have going on over here? Thanks!
