So im pretty new to threads and forums in general (straight Noob). Sorry for sucking at life but any help would be appreciated.

So my cpu spins up to a solid 100% when i start this game and pretty much stays at 100% the entire time. Ive tried a couple of things to fix with no luck. A friend of mine acquired the same torrent i did and is running a lesser system all the way down. but he says he has the game set at max and it runs perfectly?

Either way this is what im packin:

Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Duo Core 3.1 ghz
Asus P5N-D mobo
2x HD radeon 512 4850 (i know my mobo is sli and im *trying* to run crossfire on it). Im trying to work around that until i get an asus rampage
8 gigs RAM
older Audigy sound card

What ive done so far:
tried rolling back to the org ATI drivers rather than the tweaked drivers. no luck
tried taking my crossfire bridge off. no luck

Does the game actually 'play' though?

Please tell me if the game actually boots up and you can play or wether it becomse stuck and crashes.

Most times a non-stop 100% cpu load suggest its stuck in an infinite-loop.

IF this is the case, here is your fix:

Go to your "The Last Remnant" folder on your harddrive
(C:\program files (x86)\square enix\the last remnant\ or something like that)
Open the 'binaries' folder
DELETE these files: OpenAL32.dll and wrap_oal.dll
(you can make a backup of the files just in case if you want to, but it isn't necessary)

Run the game, and ENJOY! =)

Reason: It seems all Unreal 3 engine games have a problem with their 'openAL', which is an audio processing system it uses to emulate 3D environmental audio.
Sadly though on a lot of computers for some reason it doesn't work...
I've had the same problem as you have with UT3 and Mirrors Edge and in both cases
deleting those 2 files solved the problem and allowed me to play the games normally.

NOTE: deleting these 2 files won't actually disable your audio or anything, you'll still be able to just play the games with regular sound so have no fear.

Hmm.. You can still try the fix I suggested but I'm not sure if your problem is related to openAL then.. seeing as you are in fact able to 'run' the game.

Clipping would suggest a GFX problem.

You might want to try:
-reinstalling (latest) graphics drivers.
-playing around with graphics driver settings
-playing around with graphics game settings
(you dont have to set everything to lowest, most cases these sorts of things are
caused by a single thing such as AA or AF or Vsync so try disabling those things one by one to see if one of them disbled fixes the problem. if your game settings menu doesnt allow these paramters to be altered you should be able to set graphics drivers to override game settings and tweak the settings in there)
- running in compatability mode. (XP compatability)

Hello DiseaseInfested,

Could be because it is an illegal torrent copy of the game. Discussing such matters is not allowed in the forums.

Thread closed.
