Vista x64 lag drop in games

I would play any game, titan quest, battlefield 2142, left 4 dead you name it and I would get a random fps drop from 60fps to 5-10 which is unplayable. All of the games are updated and some have punkbuster and some do not (some fps drop come from punkbuster). I reinstalled Vista, all my vista updates are updated, I use ccleaner, spybot, hijack this and my laptop is clean. The only thing I can say is going wrong is that when I get the lag drop scvhost and explorer increase and decrease memory.

All drivers are updated, the only update I didn't do is my bios on my motherboard. I can't play any games under this condition. I thought Vista was supposed to be for gaming and I cannot play any games!

Re: Vista x64 lag drop in games

Games + Laptop = Intensive Heat = FPS drop

Does this happens at the beginning of the game or after you have been playing for a while?

Have you checked if there is something running in the background at the time the FPS drop happens? I know I had to disable the Vista Defender and Indexing because of it

Truth be told, the only reason why I keep Vista around (aside from the fact that my wife loves the eye candy) is because the games are more stable than playing them on XP and my PC is used mostly for gaming.
