Vista - Trouble Installing Gears Of War

I get an error message and the game never installs:

"Error Number 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load DLL: FirewallInstallHelper

Setup will now terminate"

I copied the DVD onto my hard drive and still no luck...

Any help is appreciated while I still have hair left!

it seems you have to put the dll into system32 folder, this link may help, its not gears but its the same problem and the solution may work for you. (a user said it worked on gears), good luck

I ran Registry Mechanic and then re-installed. I also installed the latest version of the Microsoft Live Game tool. When I start the game, I am nowable to play, but I do not see a place in the game where I sign in so I can save my progress in campaign mode, nor do I see a way to start the game from within the MS tool. ???? This is far too much trouble!!!!

OK, I have no idea what I did, but upon re-entering the game and navigating through some menus, a pop-up appeared and asked for the key and the Live ID. I have played, exited the game and then returned to my saved game... whew!

glad you got it fixed, after reading your post i loaded gears and had the exact same problem lol, but after tweaking it ran ok, great game though.
