Vista - Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 works so far...

I found my old CD for this game, and it installed just fine. I went through the tutorial, but haven't tried any of the scenarios yet.

Has anyone else installed this ? And have you had any problems ?

Old thread.. But I'll be getting some parts for my new computer (w/Vista x64) and will try this game myself. Ah.. the odies.

I have played several scenarios and won. Tried the scenario builder and it works under Vista.

edit: If you one of the 'trainers', I only found one working under Vista and with RCT2. I'll post the name of it if anyone is interested.

I play RCT as a time waster... not too worried about playing it exactly. So, I use a trainer to increase in-game cash and control the game weather.

Hey JimJoe - can I get that trainer from you for rct2?

I just installed rct with the 2 expansion packs (corkscrew follies and loopy landscapes) on my vista box. It took a few minutes to find a patch that allowed it to run on vista but i did find one (anybody else can find it here: RollerCoaster Tycoon Patch - US - MegaGames patches Download using MegaGames mirror)

However, if you go to save the game - it just closes. Found out the hard way :/

Very interested in rct2 though - about to give that one an install.

I only have the orignal CD and it installs fine but when i go to play it, a window that says "Can't initiate graphics system" pops up. I have tried everything and can't seem to get it to work! I have tried to make it compatible for vista, changed set the color to 256 and checked the box that says "use as administer." I also did the thing with security that you chack "allow all" to use and it still doesn't work. I can't to get it to work. I got RCT 1 to work fine on my computer but cant get RCT 2 to work.

I have a radeon mobility 256.
Intel Centrino vPro
2gb processor
Computer type" HP Compaq 8510p

I just did a web search for it. I don't have the expansion packs.

If you use a trainer, save often. There is an 'anti-trainer' set of code in rct2. So it will exit out of RCT2 when it runs that bit of check code. I am at work and don't remember which one I have, I'll post later today after I get home the name of the trainer. It adds money, mow lawns, clean sidewalks, etc. I like it as I typically forget some set of sidewalk and forget to add employees to it.

I didn't have to patch it to run on Vista Home Premium, even installed it in the C:\Program Files\ area. Oops, I see you have rct1. I have that somewhere, probably packed in a box in the storage shed. No idea which one it is in.
