What graphic card do you have exactly? If it's on board then you might have problems running some games.

Though a couple of good single player RPGs are Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3. They're both easy to learn and both great games. Then theres Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2, which are both great RPGs.

Re: Good RPG for a beginer

i don't think elder scrolls oblivion is a good rpg game choice for beginner at all, the leveling system alone will make your head spin. fallout3 is a little better but not that much consider they are both made by bethesda softworks. also, i doubt his build-in graphics card from Dell can handle those 2 games.

kotor 1 and 2 are both decent choices, same as World of Warcraft (though very addicting indeed, i just recently quit myself so i should know...).
also try neverwinter nights 1 and 2.

alot of really good RPG games requires a good graphics card now.

While I play Everquest often (pay by the month), Hero Online is also good and its free. Ragnarok is good and free.

The Last Remnant is a good RPG and it also has controller support or you can use the more traditional keyboard and mouse setup
