Vista - Riddick Dark Athena... alternator

So a friend has this game and his has hit a snag on the Alternator map, this is the one you have to go in order to get to the Cargo Deck Maintenance room.

After getting to the crates where a light is showned on you, climbing up to the 5 level and finding the ladder up to the room where a guard is walking above you. It is not a secret that all you got to do is get to the end of the vents where you are supposed to climb out.

Well, no matter what he does (I tried quiet a few times as well), riddick does not want to climb out of there... is there a trick to this?

Suffice to say, we googled it and found multiple walkthroughs and videos but again... our character does not want to seem to grab onto the rail or edge to get himself out of there. We even tried to load from the previous checkpoint and run the map from the beginning but to no avail

I have not played this game but i have had this on other games, when a task is not completed you cant leave the level, or you may have to go to a particular part of the map/level to trigger the next event, have you completed all the tasks ?,

Yes, I have had that happened to me as well but I do not think this is the case here. I am trying to move thru to the level and if I watch the walkthrough video, the guys does exactly as I am doing up to that point, the only difference is that his character is able to get out of the whole and mine can't.

Funny thing is that it appears that I could easy jump out of there w/o the need to grab onto the edge, I have seen this character grab onto some other stuff that I thought it was high enough where he was not going to be able to jump to it.

Oh well, I am more of a point and shoot kinda guy and not a hand-2-hand combat player so, is not much of a big deal for me but my friend had gotten into it big time so he's not going to be thrill to hear there may not be a solution to it
